Instructor Bio:
Raeus Jae Cannon is a fiber artist using knitting and pin loom weaving to create one-of-a-kind wearable art. She uses her mother’s 1934 pin-loom to create designs that are geometric yet flowing, sometimes whimsical, and colorful.
Raeus finds inspiration comes from a variety of sources: yarns, scenery, art, and even sounds. Every project starts with a ‘palette’ of yarn swatches woven on the pin loom. Once completed, she knits pieces and parts without having any idea of what the final piece will be; allowing the project to develop while following small pictures in her mind.
She's a member of the Southern Highland Craft Guild (SHCG); Townsend Artisan Craft Guild; Surface Design Association (SDA); The Knitting Guild Association (TKGA); Handweavers Guild of America (HGA); and The Embroiderers Guild of America (EGA).
