Mini Baskets Class

Saturday, November 18th, 2023
10:00 - 2:00

Join us on Saturday, November 18th at 10:00am for another amazing basket weaving class! When settlers arrived in East TN in the 1700s, they brought basketry traditions with them. Basket-making skills were valuable to settlers as they used them to transport everything from food to tools to linens and more. Many baskets were also works of art created out of necessity. Join instructor, Sheri Burns, to create your own work of art - or rather 5 works of art! At the end of this class you'll have five mini baskets to take home!

Cost for class: $60 for Friends of Ramsey House, $65for non-members!

Sheri Burns Bio
A retired homeschool mom of 4, as well as a practicing nurse for the last 30 years, Sheri first learned basketry 18 years ago as an extension of being a homeschool teacher. While teaching Appalachian history to her children, she took her first basket class, so she could make baskets with her kids and fell in love with the art form. Sheri is passionate about teaching the art of basket weaving as well as continually learning new styles and techniques.
